Camille McGriff
Camille McGriff is a second-year, dual-degree candidate in the Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Critical, Conceptual, and Curatorial Practices at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. She graduated magna cum laude with Honors from William Smith College in 2022.
With an interdisciplinary background in design and rhetorical studies, she works at the intersection of architecture and narrative, critically challenging representation, genre, and form in the rigorous search for new narratives. Her extensive research and work with ekphrasis challenges particularly the notions, constraints, and thresholds of genre between literature and visual representation.
She works on a range of projects, challenging the definition of architecture as she designs housing, communities, and exhibitions; she writes fiction, lyric essay, and architectural theory; and centers her practice on drawing, diagramming, and collage. She aims to create spaces within which we can conceive of new narratives.
Her portfolio is an iterative search through writing and design for new narratives for Earth, cities, and spaces. She is a native of Fairhope, Alabama, and enjoys sailing, running, and reading in her free time.
